How to use

Create a space

Whether it's the kitchen fridge or a magnetic whiteboard, create a space that's child friendly. Even better if your child has a say in making this decision. We have found a whiteboard to be the best-dedicated space in our home. We use the 3M velcro strips to mount, allowing easy movement if the need arises.

Get to know the cards

Take some time with your child and get to know Bear and their friends. Bass and Bear routine cards are designed visually for pre-readers; talking to them about the different activities will familiarise them with the cards.

Find your key daily cards

Find your everyday activities, like meals and morning/nighttime routines, and use these as your base, leaving gaps in between to fill with activity cards. We suggest a grid pattern to promote the left-to-right, top-to-bottom reading style, but your arrangement is entirely up to you.

Fill in the gaps

This is where the conversation starts! What will the weather be? What do we have to do? What do you want to do? It's a great way to provide choices and get them thinking about a balanced day. There are two blank cards for you to customise your activities when you need to, use the little whiteboard marker to write or draw your activity and wipe clean with a soft cloth when you are done, ready for another day.

Learn and grow

Usually, the first reaction from little ones when filling in the gaps around the core cards is to stick up all the cards they think will be fun; this often results in a schedule that is so overloaded it's just never going to be achievable. With regular use, they will adapt and learn through trial and error what a well-balanced day looks and feels like—creating a sense of balance and rhythm that improves the well-being of everyone involved.
